What are dental fillings and what material is used for them?
Dental filling is a procedure used to repair structural damage of a tooth or teeth back to its original form or a form that is most suitable for the patient’s mouth and smile due to structural damage. Structural damage can be caused as a result of tooth decay (cavities), wear, or dental trauma. After the cavity or dental problem, the structure of the tooth or teeth are restored with a filling. The material Dr. Zarabian uses is the strongest, most durable, and one of the safest resins available to be used by dentists today. Dr. Zarabian does not use any mercury, silver, gold or any other metal for any produces, including dental fillings. These metals have been found to be toxic and cause toxicities within the human body. Dr. Zarabian also replaces metal fillings performed by other dentists using this special resin.
What is a root canal and how is the procedure performed?
Root canal therapy is a procedure used to remove an infected pulp tissue within the root chamber of a tooth. The region of the tooth is first treated with anesthetics to avoid any pain. The tooth is then hollowed out, the root is removed, then filled with an antibacterial filling, and finally a porcelain crown is capped on the tooth for optimal protection.
What are dental crowns and when are they used? (change)
A dental crown is a cap that can replace the tops of extensively decayed (once removed) or damaged teeth. Dental crowns can be made of gold metals, silver metals, porcelain or a combination of porcelain and metal. Dr. Zarabian uses only porcelain material; as it is found to be the safest option to use on his patient’s, stain-resistant, and can be made to match the color of your own teeth. With the use of CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Zarabian fabricates dental crowns to the precision required to perfect your smile. In some cases, dental veneers may replace the need for a dental crowns. General dentists, family dentists, prosthodontists, pediatric dentists and cosmetic dentists may perform the crown procedure; however, expertise varies among dentists.
What is the difference between a fillings and crowns?
A filling is a resin used to fill within a tooth or to cover just a portion of a tooth. Crowns are made of resin, metal, or porcelain and fully cover and securely fit completely around the whole tooth (above the gum line).
